Re: Bob Bittner's Unlikely Ally In The Fight Against The "CashMachine"
Other examples of delay -
- Digital in Fall River (WHTB) - used mostly for those rude callers to talk
shows or when you had something "select" to say to a caller before dumping
them off the phone bank...keeping in mind you only had seven seconds to
speak your mind. Always brought delay up during talk...never during music
due to that warbly cart sound that would be heard until 7 seconds caught
up...wait...it could have been the warbly cart...deck 3 was always a
nightmare in the triple deck systems...but that's another thread.
- Analog in Haverhill (WHAV) - Patched the audio feed out from the board to
a tape deck into a reel to reel (an old beast at best!) and some how that
created a 10 second delay...not sure how to this day, but it worked. If we
needed to dump out, we'd have to run a jingle or something, lean out of the
studio, stop the tape, wait til the jingle finished, start the tape back up
and hope the spool didn't come undone in the process.
Ahhh - the technical memories.
