Re: New Small TV bill

The ruling on small TV stations is a disaster for cable systems and
cable subscribers. The Supreme Court apparently assumed that all small
stations are struggling mom-and-pops providing links to the outside
world for their devoted viewers.
Well, there are no devoted viewers -- at least none who haven't been
lobotomized -- of stations like WGOT. Didn't anyone tell the justices
that get-rich-quick artists are taking advantage of must-carry around
the country?
And they'll continue to do so on the fringes of ll major markets,
selling 100% of their air time, hiring practically no one, then selling
to a religious group or a home shopping outfit when they achieve total
cable penetration.
It's sad; that's all I can say.
