This is nothing new for media coverage...both public and commercial media
are guilty of it. Taking a lot of half-truths and expanding them into a
story that distorts the issue almost beyond recognition. Remember NBC's
story on gas tanks in Chevy trucks where they actually staged the
explosions? And they got caught only because they pulled it off clumsily.
Always makes a good story when you attack the big bad corporations. The
truth (as was pointed out in Scott's article) is less cut & dried, and
thusly is much more dull. Alas, this is the kind of "journalism" that
attracts attention.
