Re: Rockline

Bob Coburn, the longtime host of Rockline, has purchased the rights to
the program and is now syndicating it himself. He continues to do the
show from the Premiere studios in Sherman Oaks--it's just on his nickel
now. There are actually two Rockline programs, the regular show on
Mondays and "Classic" Rockline on Wednesdays. The older, established
artists that did the show during it's heyday are still loyal to the
program, but the newer bands really don't find the show all that
relevant, and many don't like to appear because the younger listeners
that buy their music just aren't there anymore. Because of this,
stations that aren't classic rock based have pretty much dropped the
show. I have heard that the number of affiliates airing Rockline has
decreased pretty dramatically over the last few years, which probably
led Premiere to remove the show from their lineup. Lack of affiliates
was why they dropped several shows along with Rockline late last year,
including "American Top 40 Flashback" and "The Rhythm Countdown with
Ellen K." We'll have to see if Coburn can get more affiliates and keep
Rockline going on his own.
