Rockline

I have heard from several dependaent scources that the long-running
popular radio show Rockline has been cancelled by Premeire due to "lack of
beign able to find artists to participate"

Personally I think it was a move by Clear Channel because the show was not
profitable enough.

However, two weeks after I heard this, tonights rockline show was a live
show with the band Boston./

Earlier today I received this email on the Led Zepplein list....

Does anyone know more details about this?

Rockline in my opinion is one of the best shows on the dial, and to see it
cancelled is a shame. Where else would a regular Joe get to chat with
their favorite mmusicians?

Any details on what the true story is behind this would be appreciated.

Hi All,

Here's the link to the entire message board:
http://members3.boardhost.com/rockline/

For those who just want to read it here:
This is from larp.com 12/23
Coburn Owns Rockline. As of January 1, 2003, Bob Coburn, host of
nationally syndicated “Rockline,” will be the new owner of the program.
He purchased the show from Premiere Radio Networks for an undisclosed
amount. The show will continue to broadcast on Mondays and Wednesdays
from the same studio in Los Angeles.
“As the longtime host of Rockline, it’s natural to purchase the program
myself,” said Bob. “I heard over and over the past few weeks that
Rockline is a big part of the world of Rock and Roll. I’m excited at the
prospect of making the show even bigger and better than ever.” Kraig T.
Kitchin, president/coo of Premiere Radio Networks stated, “Few people
have the passion and the ability to see Rockline continue to thrive –
Bob Coburn is one of them. We’ve heard from radio that they want
Rockline to continue and it will be in very capable hands.”

I couldn't find the article on larp.com myself for what it's worth.

Rockline is no longer produced. The reason giuven is that it is getting
harder and harder to find classic rock artists. However I have my own
theory.....Rockline was distributed and owned by Premeir Radio Network,
which is a subsidary of Clear Channel, the most money grubbing radio
company in the United States. They probably decided it was not
profitable
enoguh...........it's sad. That was one of the best nationally
syndicated
radio shows....where else could an average Joe get to talk to their
favorite musicians?

Hopefully another radio company will pick it up. Westwood One are you
listening?
