I think I recall driving to a job I had in 1978-9 and they had dropped their
music format altogether...cuz I was listening to Empror Hudson in the
morning.

Can anyone pin end of their Top 40/AC format any better than 78-79?
(In 1974-ish...I remember 'Tom Allen' playing the hits on WMEX.)

Also, I don't think Jerry Williams was there when Pat Whitley was there.
Jerry did talk during the music formatted days....following the likes of Woo
Woo Ginsberg.  By the time Pat Whitley came along...Jerry had already gone
on to better things.  WBBM, WBZ, etc.  He was at WRKO when they flipped to
talk in Sept 1981.
