RE: memories of Jerry Williams' show
My contention is that unfortunately, that someone as outspoken as Jerry
Williams would not be tolerated by executive 'suits' if you will in this era
of mega-conglomerate radio. The Clear Channels, Viacoms, & Disneys of
today's radio landscape want non-controversial talking heads on the air,
IMHO
Notice that here in Boston none of the current major talk show hosts such as
Jay, Howie, or David (Brudnoy) ever quite do what Jerry used to do in
mobilizing listeners. I guess the days when Jerry could exhort his audience
to flood Beacon Hill with phone calls, or even say sex surveys for instance,
are gone.
Any comments are welcome.
