Re: Channel 7 history

True. The actual WNAC-TV license was cancelled
after RKO General was deemed unfit to hold a license.
However the station you are currently watching is the
same station that came to the air in 1948 on Channel
7. Only the call-letters (twice) and the licensees
have changed. WNEV-TV signed on the air using the
same transmitter and antenna some 3 to 4 hours after
WNAC disappeared in that spring of 1982. "The New
SE7EN has just begun!". Same station.
This was not exactly the same situation when
WHDH-TV (Herald-Traveler/ a CBS affiliate) lost their
license on March 19, 1972. WCVB-TV (Boston
Broadcasters Incorporated/ a ABC affiliate) was a
totally different station with a totally different
studio, transmitter and licensee. WHDH-TV ceased to
exist at 2:30am when Dave Beuhl (sp) pulled the switch
for the last time that morning. WCVB-TV turned-on for
good, 13 minutes later. Ken Stahl was the LAST voice
on WHDH-TV. Ken Stahl was the FIRST voice of WCVB-TV.
