Long Time Listener, First Time Caller (was: RE: USAffairs)
Chuck,
1)I'm a long time listener of Let's Talk
About Radio - it's a great show.
Chuck, do you care about facts
or are you out to belittle someone?
2)This issue was resolved, but you've
chosen to put it on the list again -
you could have written to me
personally and gotten a personal
response.
I've been in radio a lot longer than many
people on this list - but spend most of
my time in TV production. My Mark
Farner (Grand Funk) and Ian Hunter
specials are consuming a lot of my
time right now, and expansion to about
3 mllion homes. The sad thing is -
if people aren't familiar with your work,
they come up with mean spirited quips
like Chuck Igo's.
This community could be a strong one
if people were more supportive - but
a few people here have to look long and
hard in the mirror - our radio is deficient
because many of the people who want
to work in radio are too full of themselves
to care about the listeners, the advertisers
or their fellow jocks.
It is disgraceful - and maybe I'll publish
a book about it - starting with the
misconduct of a certain "modern rock"
station which is the bottom rung,
and all the nonsense which surrounds that
prime example.
You want an informative news list here,
Chuck or Mike Fitz or Garrett, maybe
a little direction is needed, and maybe
you shouldn't pamper a child who has
filled my business mailbox here with
spam.
I'm a step away from unsubscribing,
unless my accurate response to Chuck
is too "strong" for you to handle,
Garrett, in which case, I wouldn't
want to be on this list.
Thank you

Ben wrote some clear things, and finished with:
>>I'm gonna hang up and listen to your answer now. :)<<
of course, Ben, due to the seven second delay, you neglected to turn down
your monitor, which, as we all know leads the DD866 to wind up in the
shallows of the Cooper River again... (oops, now I did it... blended two
newsgroups into one... )
but on a serious note:
Joe Vig wrote:
>>Good old Mike Fitzpatrick Jr. Just when
we all thought the problem was solved,
he puts his two cents in and exacerbates
the problem. God help us.<<
(snip)
>>Put a fork in it Mike, you are, as usual,
a day late and a dollar short.<<
Joe,
i am not even going to come close to playing a moderator's role here.
however, keep your venom to yourself, sir. there's really no room here for
the level to which i've seen things escalate. i am aware that you have a
couple of issues with the way Mike Fitzpatrick moderates another boston
radio info-type list. and you do occasionally come off as, let's say,
"strong."
with you being "new" to this list, and having seemingly become a new fan
of "LTAR," ( a note i observed on the "other" list) i simply pass on the
suggestion to keep it friendly, not unlike the great radio discussions you
hear on Bob B's show. "biting sarcasm" is always welcome, but save the
quasi-hatred, okay?
