Re: AM 740 not doing Legal ID

Mr. Wollman, working from memory, believes the legal ID on the half-hour
requirement bit the dust around 1972. Mr. Ross, working from memory,
suspects that didn't happen until at least the 1980s. I, working from
memory, was able to find the little booklet I studied before taking my
test at the Custom House tower in 1975. It's called "Third Class
Broadcast Operator Permit Study Guide," with the FCC logo on the cover
and G.P.O Bookstore price sticker (55 cents) still affixed. The
publication date is 1974 and ID's are required at the beginning and end
of each period of operation and "hourly, as close to the hour as
feasible, at a natural break in program offerings."
