A surprising underwriting announcement

I've been listening to WMUA on the Web this evening, and I was 
surprised to hear an announcement and promo for a web-based pop 
music service.  After telling what it was, the announcer said that WMUA 
thanks them for their support.  That's a bit surprising to me that a 
webcasting station should be supporting a radio station (and one which 
also webcasts), but there it is.
