Re: Boston TV memories?
Say, kids! Have you been bothered by questions like "Who played Major
Mudd and what became of him?" Here's a swell trick you can try at
home! Follow this link <http://www.boston.com/globe/search/> to the
Boston Globe's archives and search all years for the term "major mudd"
and you'll find that the Ask the Globe column has answered this question
no fewer than 3 times in the past dozen years! Search for "willie
whistle" and you'll find similar results!
For you boys and girls who can't get online right now, Ask the Globe
tells us that Edward McDonnell played Major Mudd from 1961 to 1975. He
died in 1979 "after a losing bout with diabetes which led to blindness
and kidney failure." Willie Whistle was played by WSBK-TV program
director Dick Beach "for nearly two decades before retiring and moving
West in the mid-1980s."
