More names from WCAP's past.I'll admit I was a bit tired when I posted
about John Tucker,Bob Canaway, and Bob Dumais. So tired that I forgot some of
those names from WCAP's great news dept back in the late 70's through the
80's.(Let's not forget Scott Fybush either,Bill).
And through all the changes at 243 Central St one thing hasn't:Cappy's
Copper Kettle is still downstairs, where on Friday and Saturday nights
longtime WLLH weekend mainstay J.C. appears with his golden oldies show.He
did his oldies show on "Fun 14" from March 1966 to July 1990.He started his
career at WCSS in Amsterdam,NY.While there,he worked with someone who went
on to become one of Boston's best known TV news anchors:Chet Curtis. He also
worked at WPTR and WFEA before his long weekend stint in the Merrimack
Valley.
And another thing:how may of you know J.C's real name,or Chet Curtis'
real name? Anyone in the Lowell area can stop by the Copper Kettle to see
the answer on the wall in the entertainment/lounge side.A copy of a WCSS ad
with pictures with real names included. Also pictures of J.C.with many music
and media celebrities(Dean Martin,Dick Clark,Chet Curtis and Natalie
Jacobson to name a few) adorn this same wall.
(Scott:how about a NERW gathering at the Copper Kettle??You and Bill
O'Neill can reenact those post WCAP night shift "critique" sesions for the
studio audience!!) <g>
