Rush was far from the first to use the satellite , but he was the first that
major market stations would consider using during prime revenue hours. The
others that started at that time ( Sally, Bruce Williams, Talknet, Tom
Star ) all worked in fringe hours or markets)

 Uncle Mel, just took advantage of the old saying, "he with the most toys
wins".....

Now as far as radio goes for the bulk of the century
(Nationally)
I would pick General David Sarnoff (sic) as probably the most important
person in the history of radio. He was the first to put it all together, and
everything we have today, traces back to him.
