Globe article on Brockton/South Shore local radio

FYI, the Boston Sunday Globe, 10/17, on the front of its zoned
weekly "South" section that only goes to some of the ciruclation area, had
an article about the recent goings on with ownership changes at some of the
area's local radio stations, and the prospects for continuation of real
local radio.
It had a comments by the local owner of WATD in Marshfield. It
talked quite a bit about WMSX in Brockton, saying that the whole 12-member
staff was fired recently when the station was purchased by Keating Willcox.
Apparently, it now simulcasts his other stations and/or runs bird-feed talk
shows? The Brockton mayor and some other community leaders lamented the
loss of a whole bunch of local and ethnic programs that ran on WMSX.
The article also had material about the impending change at WCAV,
noting that the new owners apparently will try to make it a Boston market
player, and this was described as another reduction in locally oriented
radio for the Brockton area.
Maybe the article is available on the Globe website even though it was
zoned.
