Don't know the specific same-frequency and co-channel interference
situation
with the station you guys are talking about, but the FCC is allowing power
increases
above 5,000 watts on some regional channels...where interference isn't a
problem.

I.E.: On 1480 in Canton, Ohio, 5kw WHBC has been granted 15,000 watts days
(will
stay 5kw nights).  On 620 in St. Petersburg, Florida, WSUN is either 10,000
or 50,000.
The 790 in Miami Beach is 50,000watts....all on "regional" channels.
