Half of this idea was tried already.  100.3 played all disco and 80's dance a
few years ago as "The Beat"--after the simulcast of "The Edge" and before "The
Hawk."  The format only lasted a few months.  As it is, 99.7 and 100.3's signals
overlap eachother in the most populated areas of the market, so it seems to be a
waste to simulcast them.  The best way to make these class A signals profitable
is to put "boutique" formats on them and build small but loyal core audiences.
Hey, it's better than NO audience, like the Hawk has!  I'd put jazz back on
100.3 (remember WOTB?) and I'd go with a jammin' oldies format for 99.7.  They'd
market well together in sales packages and they'd be able to own format
positions not already taken in town.
