Monikers

Well, there hasn't been too many over the last several years but one that
I can think of is naming radio stations after people. KALC-Denver
popularized the "Alice" moniker on their modern AC several years ago. Now
there are many Alice's around the country. Interestingly, their sister AM
is a hot talker named "Ralph" (KRRF.) The idea caught on and there are
now stations calling themselves "Bob" (mainly country) and the latest is a
hot AC in Portland, OR calling itself "Rosie." Hey, what better way to
generate top of mind awareness and relatablility than with a real name,
not an obvious marketing concept. Just think if stations in this area
started doing this. WPLM could start using the "Myrtle" handle...
