True. It's a real opportunity for someone with a good radio sense (and
ability to coach that to others) a chance to upgrade the overall
professional "sound" of a local signal otherwise limited by live local human
error.

Better still, if recorded, er, encoded the same day, there is no excuse not
to "get it right" and be topical, local, interesting, humorous, and
concise - whatever you're going for as a station.
It seems as though many signals have been relatively new to the tools that
still have that "out of the box smell" to them. And stations are still
basking in the afterglow of how much FTEs, FICA and Workers Comp dollars
will be rolled across the budget to pay for the new gizmo then captured as
savings. Concurrent with that business reality needs to be making a better
thing with the new thing. I agree that does not seem to be happening. Yet.
After that "out of the box smell" wears off, we'll separate the men/women
from the boys/girls.
