Donn Tibbetts

On a sad NH broadcasting note, Donn Tibbbetts passed away on Friday.

He was known mostly for covering the state capital for the Manchester Union
Leader for many years. But he got his start in broadcasting at WKBR 1250
Manchester in 1949. He was also heard on WTSV Claremont, WKXL Concord, WFEA
Manchester and WHDH in Boston, MA. He joined which was then WMUR radio and TV
Manchester in 1954. WMUR radio was sold and became WGIR, where he served as
news director and assistant general manager. He also became New England's
first television-disc jockey on Channel 9. He left WGIR to join the Union
Leader in 1972. He also won the NH sportscaster award 9 times.

He was refered to everyone who dealt with him as a gentleman. He just retired
last January from the paper. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
