I have never seen anything in the FCC actions to indicate that WTRY has
applied for the allocated ex-band facilities. Maybe WGNY could buy the 1640
allocation from WTRY. WGNY, which did not receive an ex-band allocation, has
been trying to become the first directional ex-band station ever since the
FCC ordered them off 1200 and back onto 1220.

Were WTRY to move, the principal beneficiary would be WCAP, which would wind
up with a relatively quiet channel at night. But with one or two exceptions,
no ex-band station has shut down its regular frequency. The only ones that
I've heard about are one in MD and one in AL. The AL shutdown was a
necessity. The old frequency was 1590 and the new frequency is 1620. The
antenna sites are the same. That's less than a 2% frequency difference--too
close for diplexing.
