The reason the Mets were on Mt Washington FM during those years, plus
some weekend TV games on Channel 8 was simply because Mrs. Joan Payson who
owned the Mets summered in the North Country.

About this same time a young brash sailor in Newport, Rhode Island wanted
to see his new plaything the Atlanta Braves play while he was involved
with defending the America's Cup. The CE at Channel 17 game up with the
idea of building a downlink in Newport so this sailor could watch his
team. One day the sailor asked the CE, "ummmm, can anybody else see this?"
The CE replied, "sure, anyone with a satellite dish"...

The rest is history...
