Back From DX'ing on PEI

Well, I'm back from a very restful week on Prince Edward's Island. For
those interested, the "Fixed Link" is a simple, well-designed, "one lane
in each direction" bridge from New Brunswick to PEI. At 12.9 Km, it's
the longest bridge of its type in the world. It only took us 11 to 12
minutes each way. Side walls obscure view of the water, reduce wind
effect and prevent nervousness. A lot faster than waiting 30-90 minutes
for a 45-minute ferry ride.

DX:
Island enjoyment cut severely into dial-scanning time, but that's
vacation for you. At 9:30 pm on Sunday 7/13, WBZ, WRKO and WEEI were
all weak and fading in and out. They were all beat out by WTIC Hartford
and WBAL Baltimore - both of which boomed in for clear,
easy-to-listen-to, almost fade-free programs.

I also received (clearly) a Spanish AM'er (forgot to log frequency, but
think it's somewhere around 720) running what seemed to be a syndicated
Spanish Music Show - the only word that was repeated (ad nauseum) was
"GALAXIE". Music was intro'd and backsold by a "Big Voice Guy". Breaks
were typical small-town radio i.e. lots of local spots of varying
quality/distortion and the board op/announcer was "green" and unsure.
Couldn't make out call letters. Anybody know anything about "GALAXIE"?

Will probably try again this fall.
