They did more than just sniff - I'm pretty sure an application to 
transfer the WNAC licenses to NBC was pending at the FCC for a few 
years, and that NBC would have traded WRC AM-FM-TV to RKO in exchange 
for the Boston licenses, but the legal wrangling over the KYW deal held 
it up and it was never consummated.
