CBC loses hockey theme song

I worked many a feed for CBC out of Boston and there was a rush when
the opening theme played.

Hockey Night in Canada used to spare no expense when it came to
production but that is when the sponsor owned it and just bought time
on CBC. About 10 years ago CBC finally retained ownership and they
have become very bottom line with the exception of giving Don Cherry
whatever he wants.

They would not even spring for a HD truck for playoff games in Boston
his spring (about $10,000 extra) while the French network RDS did so.
