Sometimes heritage works against you when you're trying to appear fresh
and hip. I'm sure WMEX went with the "X-15" handle to jump on the
Q-format bandwagon which was the format fad du jour around '73-74. Maybe
they thought the WMEX calls were associated with good guys radio and they
wanted to ditch that image.
