Herald: Ch 4 going back to "WBZ" brand

Matt,
I couldn't agree more --- and made exactly this point in this forum about a
month ago. WRGB is the oldest television station in the world(!), has an
incredibly rich history, call letters that everyone knows (my Schenectady
relatives, to a person, all still refer to it as WRGB), and --- as you
pointed out --- is IN SCHENECTADY, not Albany.

I wonder whether, in this case, the decision to adopt the "CBS6 Albany"
moniker came from the folks at Freedom Broadcasting, not CBS. I can
understand how CBS can make a top-down mandate like that for its O&Os, but
WRGB isn't network-owned.

You should write letters to the Times Union and the Schenectady Gazette.
WRGB might just be interested in what you have to say.

-Doug

P.S.: While we're on this rant, would you like to address the subject of
Clear Channel's "810 WGY Schenectady/ALBANY"?
