Try BET or any of the "black" radio stations. It's a greeting, noun, curse
or whatever context is "appropriate".  It apparently IS accepted in the
black community only between blacks.

It is not that uncommon within any ethnic group for the members to refer to
each other, either affectionately or not, with a term that outside of the
community would be considered derogatory.
