When you have situations like WCBS-FM...a station that owned its demo
and billed $34 million a year blown up, with the result that its ratings
and billings tank since it's now in competition with 15 other stations
for the same demo...that old saw is not gonna cut it. The attitude is
not "what's it doing now," it's "what COULD it do with a different
format?"
After all, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" makes too much sense.
Can't have that.
