Speaking only for myself, not for my company:

This sure does smell as if someone is running for something, because actions like this are the grandstanding that usually accompanies such a move.

Reilly found an excuse to do nothing about priests buggering little boys, but butts in where he doesn't belong when a radio talk show comes along that he doesn't like.  He needs to refresh himself on the meaning of the First Amendment, and then decide where his priorities lie.
