It's still made.  And it still contains booze.  But so do a lot of liquid
patent medicines out there on the market.  

Probably because the alcohol vehicle is quickly burned off by the body so
it can start working on the medicine.  At that level, it won't even make 
you numb.

Liquid expectorants also contain alcohol.
