There are many Part 15 stations in Boston, virtually all are associated
with colleges in some way. Some have been around for over 40 years, many
are student-only counterparts to a larger, licensed, entity
on-campus. Frequently they have multiple Part 15 transmitters - one for
each dorm, for example. Many use just Carrier-current AM...but others have
that and a mix of Radiating-cable FM, FM-over-cable-TV,
audio-over-a-cable-TV-channel, and/or Part 15 AM free-radiating. Plus
webcasting as well.
WTBU (Boston University)
WECB (Emerson College)
WNBY (Newbury College)
WVBC (Boston College)
MassCommRadio (Massachusetts College of Communications)
WBTY (Bentley College)
RadioBabson (Babson College)
WBSR (Brown University)
WWPI (Worcester PolyTech)
WWIT (Wentworth Institute of Technology)
That's all I can think of off the top of my head...I'm sure there are
others, although some of the above may be defunct by now (Wentworth and
WECB come to mind).
