Re: talk radio changes, fill-ins

Interesting question on whether to stay with an FM talker doing
rebroadcasts or go with the AM talker live.

If WRKO moved Whitley to mornings, where he used to be, that would be
two conservatives on the AM drive which they haven't historically done
[Sure, Ozone was more loudmouth/lifestyle to Blute's conservative. But
in the past it has been liberal/moderate vs. conservative].

The move to broadcast Ingraham live could free up some cash to
consider a local host after 7 p.m. or for Entercomm to pocket.

The Boston Phoenix's Dan Kennedy, who broke the story about the Ozone
suspension on his Web log
[http://www.bostonphoenix.com/medialog/index.asp] also then wondered
earlier this week if Mike Elder shouldn't consider bagging Michael
Savage and Howie Carr for even worse infractions against humanity. Of
course, Carr isn't going anywhere -- he makes too much money for the
station and is something of an icon in Boston media now, by sheer
longevity -- but it would be nice to see Savage get the boot for
something a little more listenable.

However, the follow up to that is: What would replace Savage? If it
was local, cool. But I did a quick search this morning out of
curiosity and found nothing that impressive off the bird from 7 to 10
p.m. Bruce Williams live? Snooze. It is a dilemma.

Who is on WRKO from 10 p.m. on? I haven't been listening at night
lately since I moved up north? I thought the Alan Colmes show was
fast-paced and interesting guest-driven. They should consider bringing
him back.

As an aside, did anyone what the MTV VMAs last night? I got stuck
watching it because my wife is a Duranie and they received a lifetime
achievement award although the video presentation got
bungled. However, at the ending of the opening bit, Madonna, Britney
Spears, Christina Agulera, and Missy Elliot were all chanting
something about music stations only playing the same songs over and
over again. It was all I could do but laugh, considering that all
radio ever does is play there songs. I guess Madonna is peeved that
radio has ignored he latest -- and bad IMHO - CD.
