Re: (No Subject)

I haven't seen anything in the the FCC actions but that means nothing because
they don't cover call-sign changes. The M Street Journal site covers call
changes but I haven't figured out how to use that part of the site yet.

As for Salem wanting to imitate the WITS calls, gimme a break! The guy who
suggested that was the same Joseph Gallant who used to post his yearly
predictions here. Best laughs at this mailing list all year for three or four
years running. He provides such good laughs because he is so unfailingly wrong.
Why would anyone want to emulate the calls of a station that nobody remembers
and that only had those calls for maybe two years--22 years ago? Whoever said
that they thought the calls were going to stand for "Your Talk Station" sounds
to me as if he's got it pegged. I liked the idea of WCOP returning to 1150; at
least the calls were on 1150 for more than 20 years. OK, they've been gone for
more than 22 years, but they do have some connection with the station. It's a
heck of a stretch to say that there is a connection between WITS and 1150.
Yeah, I know WITS and WMEX were both on 1510. and 1150 also had WMEX. Does that
mean that 1150 needs to have WITS to obtain "closure" or something? And 1150
and 1510 consist of the same four digits in different order. Ever think that
the only three Boston-market AMs that have been WMEX were on frequencies whose
digits add up to 7? Even *I* don't care about that! Of the three stations, only
one was successful under those calls.
