I never see a pilot light on WBUR broadcasts.  Maybe they turn on 
the stereo for their weekend overnight Latino music show, but 
otherwise it seems to be all mono.

I've seen some radios (mostly older stereo systems)  that mute out 
non-stereo signals, which may be why stations like to have the pilot 
on.
