What makes you so sure that they would get that free advertising.
Unlike sports venues, the state can hardly cut off media access to the
facility for refusing to go along with the naming.  If the state sold
naming rights to Stop & Shop and I'm Mel Karmazin, I'd be looking to
shake down Ahold for more money before I permit my stations to
acknowledge it.

(In any case, Federal highway regulations would prohibit it.)
