I dunno about you, but I think the BBC is pretty interesting to listen to.
It is NPR that is dull!!! I can't stand NPR's announcers who try to be
"mister thoughtful" and speak in these hushed tones like they're on
quaaludes.

There's also the ones with speech defects: Teri (Cherry) Gross, Dye-anne
(Reyhm) Rehm, Carl (Clacking dentures) Kassel...the list goes on. I guess
they never made it in the world of commercial radio and were probably too
professional sounding for Pacifica's passel of stations. Now THAT'S
another story altoghether.

The BBC also has national networks Radio 1 and 2 which play contemp
dance/pop music and adult contemp/oldies respectively. I've listened to
them regularly on the web. Tight production and NO commercials!!! :-)

There is one BBC World Service anchorman who is a trip to listen to. He
actually GRILLS interviewees.

He pulls no punches when interviewing people and puts them on the spot and
I think some of these people come away thinking "god what an asshole." But
he's not. He just asks very pointed questions without mincing words.
That's the way a straight news interview SHOULD be conducted.

He usually does the overnight slot.
