Re: Telemudo and Ch. 60

Garrett explained:
>>(snip)Telemundo was on Devon Paxson's WWDP (46 Norwell), which has must-carry
in the Boston market, and also on O&O WTMU-LP (32 Boston), which was carried by
many local cable systems. Channel 32 will be bumped to make way for WBPX, but
Paxson is in no hurry to build. Before channel 32 was constructed, the
Telemundo affiliation was on Sr. Cuenca's WCEA-LP (then on channel 19). (snip)<<

how is the market saturation for the heavily-Spanish speaking cable areas. i'm
thinking/guessing Brockton/Fall River and Lowell/Lawrence.

and was the original "must-carry" put in place because of the unique quality of
the station along with service to the populace?

again, being in Maine where TV is still a thing of wonder, i'm not sure about
cable systems serving different areas. i'm aware that Comcast has sucked up a
few systems, but have companies such as Comcast homoginized their carried
signals?

for me here in the Portland area, we still pay homage (and more than a few
bucks each month) to Time Warner. however, the only real foreign language
stations we have on our 5,432,689 channels is CNN world and BBC, where they
speak English with an accent. (and just what is up with THAT?) ;-)

i know that up in Dan Billings' neighborhood, they might still get some
clearance for CKSH, Canada's channel 9. but of course, previous threads have
speculated that French language stations up here in Maine aren't that prevalent
or relevant (NO, Dan... we're not going there again!!!).
