war coverage pre-empting Bruins

Last night's Bruins game was not on radio as WBZ was
doing war coverage, and CBS/Infinity's other stations
in town did not air it either (opting for music). Am
guessing other games may also be pre-empted on radio.
There are 8 games left in the season, including
tonight at 10:30 pm and Monday at 7 pm. Not sure if
the team will make the playoffs.

(To be honest, I haven't really been into the Bruins
since the days of Orr and Espo, but I found it
interesting that 'BZ has no contingency plan to move
the games elsewhere when news events like this happen.
CBS/Infinity doesn't have, say, an AM signal (like
a WKOX, WROL, etc.) that they could bump the games
to...)

According to the Bruins website, the B's radio web
consists of WBZ plus Pittsfield's WBEC (1420),
Portsmouth/Rochester NH's WQSO (96.7), and WZON 620
in Bangor, ME. There's a "listen online" link but I
doubt they only did the game as a webcast (besides,
most games are on when people are home and if you're
in New England, you can catch the game on your
TV while home IF you have NESN, which most cable
systems do.

The Bruins flagship is a powerful station ("38 states
and 6 provinces") but you wonder if they someday they
might want to let the B's go elsewhere on the dial,
freeing them up for news/talk. Not sure what kind of
ratings the games get. (Who would take them...
WWZN 1510? But there might be Celtics conflict.
WEEI 850 could be a good fit--and if there were a Red
Sox conflict they could bump the B's to WRKO.)
