It is 10dB, but IIRC it's not double the strength.  It's, quite literally, 
ten times the strength.   Double the signal strentgh would be only 3dB 
(well, not exactly 3dB...it's the sq.rt. of 10 which is 
3.162277etcetcetc).   +6dB would be a factor of 4, +8dB a factor of 8 and 
thus +10dB is a factor of 10.
