The conversation here about "roadies" is somewhat misleading. This was not
Aerosmith at the Fleet Center.
This was a has-been band touring in a bus to a 300 seat bar in a secondary
market. The gerbs that caused
this problem are about the size of a cigar butt and, if installed by a hack
crew not observing safety precautions,
could easily be overlooked in the maze of other assorted junk on the stage.

In conversation with one of the owners of Russells (Bangor), their post show
investigation found that the band used
"15x15" gerbs. That is a 15 second flame 15' high. The ceilings at that
club are 10'! They did not see the gerbs
being installed and were not aware of them until they went off. They were
not pleased. The ceilings at The Station were
reported to be in the 8' range.
