So far as anyone has been able to figure out, WYDN's studios are
located in the Armstrong building in Paxton.

Not so.  The rules are that you must have a studio within the
principal community contour of some station licensed to the same
community.  (The rules previously were that you had to have a studio
within *the station's* principal community contour, but the NAB
considered this too onerous and so the rules were changed.)  They
don't even have to have common ownership.  (As a result, any of the
NYC stations could, if they wanted to, move their main studios to New
Haven.)
