I happened to be in the store one Saturday in the early 70s and saw him
doing his remote (only happened to be there by chance...I NEVER listened to
WSMN). The downright cheeziness stuck with me all these years...seeing
this middle-aged man wearing a suit & tie standing in the record dept. of
Grants with a little lozenge-on-a-string microphone (like would come with a
tape recorder) and playing the Osmonds & 3 Dog Night on this little kiddie
record player (the type with the flip-over ceramic cartridge). He looked
(and probably felt) very out of place. As I recall, no one seemed to pay
much attention to him.
