My introduction to WZBC came about 10 years ago, when WBZ (then the Boston
College flagship) pre-empted the game broadcast for coverage of the Clarence
Thomas-Anita Hill hearings. The announcers were indeed 'colorful.' On that
day, they had Willie Hicks (who had graduated the year before) in the booth
providing commentary. It was my introduction to college radio.

I would say that WZBC and WHRB probably are the most diverse college
stations in terms of programming around Boston. And I do include sports in
that equation. I don't think WBUR does any coverage of BU athletics anymore,
ditto for WUMB and UMass-Boston. WRBB does a fair job, but you can't pick up
the station more than 2 miles off-campus.
