Re: Re:Re: AT&T/Comcast rates

Yeah, they did the same thing here...and all my family got called and
visited.

Funny thing is the caller who set up the appointment said that "they had to
come out to check the cable."

My response "Check the cable anytime you want *outside* the house!".

They insisted...and of course the reason they were coming was to bring a
digital box....with lotsa channels for only $2 more a month! (Yeah, right!)
(When I inquired about getting my "old" cable back...they said "If YOU wanna
bring the digital cable box HERE...we'll give you the old box to connect
yourself." Definitlely putting the burden upon me to do all the work.)

To be honest though...I DO like the digital cable...and I am probably going
to keep it.

However, the passive user got a digital cable box (that they probably don't
need) and the increase in fees...

I wonder why the globe spotlight team...or Susan Wornick or someone didn't
do a peice on this ...it was so blatent.

> Actually in Lowell they have already pulled that scam. They called
subscribers and told them they could get a FREE upgraded digital box,
wouldn't cost any money, no increase in rates, etc...then the next cable
bill came in and guess what....yep, the digital box cost more money. What
was the solution?, anyone who got ripped off could have cable come back and
put their old boxes back in. Guess it's not fraud if you are a major corp.
> The Globe quoted the company as saying the reason for the rate hike is
because of an increase in the cost of buying programming. If that's true
then what do we need the mega conglomerates for? My old cable company could
have been pushed around by producers...I guess controlling only 33% of the
entire country's cable market doesn't give AT&T enough clought heh?
