WROR/WZLX (was Re: Ken Shelton's Sunday show)

Their playlists have become very similiar, but to pick out the differences,
it
sounds to me like WROR is going for a very slightly older core audience
than
WZLX.

They still tend to play just a little more pop hits than 'ZLX, they're even
occasionally sprinkling in an early 70's Motown hit now and then (Stevie
Wonder, Marvin Gaye), which you'll never hear on 'ZLX.

WROR doesn't seem to play nearly as much "metallic pop" as WZLX (Van Halen,
etc..), and their announcing style in general, though sometimes bland, is
a little less intelligence insulting than WZLX's "Awesome, Dude!" (etc...)
type of approach.

Carter Alan and Chuck Nowlin still try to maintain a little class at 'ZLX
in
the daytime, but their nighttime and weekend jocks often sound like they're
trying hard to prove that they're "party animals", like their target
audience.
WROR's announcing style in general is a bit more adult sounding, a little
less patronizing in that way.

WROR seems to be going more for a demographic of adult professionals who
grew
up with the music the first time around. WZLX seems to be courting more of
the
younger money-spenders in their 20's and early 30's who were handed down
the
legacies of Led Zep, Pink Floyd and such major rockers later on.
