Stooooopid move, 'CBS-FM! (Re: WCBS-FM's "Doo Wop Shop" To End 27 Year Run)

     Stoooooooopid move, 'CBS-FM! This signature
program on 'CBS-FM is one of the most respected radio
shows in the New York market, and truly the country.
To kill such a venerable institution such as the
"Doo-Wop Shop" shows such a short-sightedness of the
bean-counters at Black Rock. I am 42 years old,
hardly a spring chicken, but hardly not "already one
foot in the ground" as well. I love all forms of rock
and roll from the 1950's through the early 1980's.
"Doo-Wop" music is what made today's rock and roll all
possible. To dump a 4 hour Sunday night show (hardly
prime time) to keep the format "consistant" all week
long, is pure baloney. You risk alienating a good
amount of long time listeners who swear by
'CBS-FM/101.1 and have listened to WCBS-FM all along
since 1972.
"Doo-Wop" is NOT my favorite music, by any
stretch of the imagination. But when I get WCBS-FM
here in the Boston area on a Sunday summer night trop
or when I visit New York, I expect to hear that
special sound that is "The Dop-Wop Shop". It is
unique and deserves to be preserved. Folks, it's FOUR
hours on a Sunday night!!!! C'mon!!! How 'bout it,
Uncle Mel!
