Hot Talk? WTKK? That's far from a "hot talk"
station.
WTKK appears to be more of a mainstream talker...with
less emphasis on the older demo. If anything, (if
anyone cares) I would commend them for showing some
retraint...and not having an endless uply of sex and
lesbian top[ics as do the typical "hot talkers".
Who 'projected' it to "kick butt"?
Quite often they beat RKO 25-54....the only place
where RKO beats them regularly is 55 & 65+
I think Smooth Jazz did about the same numbers-wise (I
could be wrong) But 15 spots an hour is more spots
than they could ever run on a competitive music
format. (Not to mention the traffic and news
sponsorships, etc.)
I would bet that Advertisers pay a premium for being
on a talk station...Being on Imus (dispite his not so
impressive #'s.)
I think a talk station is worth more as an asset that
a smooth Jazz format.
KLSX was considered a smashing success in LA when it
broke the 2.0 mark (Go figure).
Again, I think 12+ #'s are meaningless....
25-54 AM Drive:
WTKK is 13th....RKO is 15th.
Midday:
WTKK is 15th....RKO is 16th
Eve's:
WRKO is in 17th place.
