Then the FCC should just go ahead and say to the 50-kilowatters: "Turn 
your power down!"

That way they can squeeze in even more stations and avoid less 
interference, considering that these so-called "clear channel" stations 
have become irrelevant (bird-fed automated programming like their lower 
powered bretheren).

Or they should do what Europe has always done...use the MW band for 
high-powered national-coverage stations and the FM for local service. But 
that would raise a hue and cry about the "big government" regulating 
programming....
