When the late Al Moffat, who had worked in Lexington at WLEX and was 
originally a newsreel photographer, founded WLLH in 1934, he promised the 
newly formed FCC that he would indeed serve those three towns.  I don't 
know if he intended to put a transmitter in any of them, but I have seen 
his service proposal and it included those three towns very specifically, 
hence the requested call letters.
